Terms & Conditions
- Payments are based over 12 months, and holidays have been deducted.
- Payments will be returned if a class has to be cancelled due to minimum numbers not being achieved.
- Broadway School of Performing Arts or any of their staff are not responsible for any loss or injury during the class.
- Broadway School of Performing Arts reserve the right to remove from our programme, without refund, anyone who is found to be bullying, misbehaving or displaying disruptive behaviour.
- You must declare all medical conditions during registration and keep us up-to-date should this change by emailing/calling us at - Adele_wallace@hotmail.com/ 07841403177
- You must declare if you do not want your child to be photographed for marketing use, and keep us up-to-date should this change using the given email address or phone number.
- Your booking is not confirmed until payment has been received. Paid for spaces will be given priority.
- You must refrain from bringing your child to class if they have had any form of illness within 48 hours of the class.
- We don't issue refunds for missed sessions due to your own circumstances
- If there are any sessions missed sure to typical bad weather, BSPA will offer a make-up session, or parents will be refunded.
- It is parents responsibility to let us know if they would like to cancel any classes (a months notice MUST be given).
SAFEGUARDING WITHIN BSPA
Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy
1. Policy Statement
Broadway School of Performing Arts (BSPA) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people who attend our classes, rehearsals, events, and performances. We believe that every child has the right to feel safe, valued, and respected, and to participate in the performing arts in a secure and supportive environment.
This policy applies to all staff, teachers, volunteers, chaperones, contractors, parents, and anyone working on behalf of BSPA.
2. Aims of the Policy
This policy aims to:
- Protect children and young people from harm, abuse, or neglect
- Ensure all staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities
- Promote safe practice and clear reporting procedures
- Provide parents and pupils with confidence in BSPA’s safeguarding standards
3. Legal Framework
This policy is informed by relevant legislation and guidance, including:
- Children (Scotland) Act 1995
- Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014
- National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland
- UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)
4. Definitions of Abuse
Abuse may include (but is not limited to):
- Physical abuse – causing physical harm
- Emotional abuse – persistent emotional mistreatment
- Sexual abuse – forcing or enticing a child to take part in sexual activities
- Neglect – failure to meet a child’s basic needs
BSPA recognises that abuse can occur in any setting and may be carried out by adults or other children.
5. Safeguarding Roles & Responsibilities
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL):
The Principal/Director of BSPA is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and holds overall responsibility for safeguarding within the school.
All Staff and Volunteers Must:
- Place the welfare of the child first
- Follow this safeguarding policy at all times
- Report any concerns immediately to the DSL
- Maintain professional boundaries
6. Recruitment & Staff Suitability
BSPA ensures that:
- All teaching staff and regular volunteers hold appropriate PVG/DBS checks
- References are obtained where applicable
- Safeguarding expectations are clearly communicated
7. Code of Conduct
All staff and volunteers must:
- Treat all children with respect and dignity
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
- Avoid being alone with a child where possible (unless in a private lesson setting with parental permission)
8. Physical Contact
Some physical contact may be necessary in dance training for:
- Demonstration
- Correction of technique
All contact must:
- Be appropriate, minimal, and explained
- Be in an open environment
- Never make a child feel uncomfortable
9. Online Safety & Social Media
- Images and videos will only be used with parental consent
- Pupils should not distribute photos or videos of fellow pupils without consent
10. Photography & Videography
Photographs and videos may be taken for training and promotional purposes.
Written consent will be obtained from parents/guardians on sign up.
Images will be stored securely and used responsibly.
11. Health & Safety
BSPA will:
- Maintain safe premises and equipment
- Hold emergency contact and medical information
- Provide basic first aid where required
- Contact emergency services when necessary
12. Responding to Safeguarding Concerns
If a child discloses information:
- Listen calmly and take them seriously
- Do not promise confidentiality
- Do not investigate
- Report immediately to the DSL
If there is immediate danger, emergency services will be contacted.
13. Reporting & Record Keeping
- All safeguarding concerns will be recorded in writing
- Records will be stored securely and confidentially
- Information will only be shared on a need-to-know basis
14. Allegations Against Staff
Any allegation against a member of staff will be taken seriously and managed in line with safeguarding procedures.
Staff may be suspended from duties while investigations take place if necessary.
15. Bullying & Peer-on-Peer Abuse
BSPA has a zero-tolerance approach to bullying.
All incidents will be taken seriously and addressed appropriately, including involvement of parents where required.
16. Drop-Off & Collection
Parents are responsible for:
- Ensuring children are dropped off and collected on time
- Informing staff of any changes to collection arrangements
Children will not be released to unauthorised individuals.
17. Confidentiality
All safeguarding matters will be handled confidentially.
Information will only be shared with appropriate authorities when required to protect a child.
18. Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if required by changes in legislation or guidance.
